1-2 October 2009 in Stockholm, Sweden.
Informal meeting of the EMEA Committee for Advanced Therapies (CAT) that involves the participation of national experts and representatives from competent authorities from European Economic Area-EEA countries (EU Member States, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway).
The main responsibility of the CAT is to prepare a draft opinion on each ATMP application submitted to the EMEA, before the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) adopts a final opinion on the granting, variation, suspension or revocation of a marketing authorisation for the medicine concerned.
At the request of the EMEA Executive Director or of the European Commission, an opinion is also drawn up on any scientific matter relating to ATMPs.
The main objective of this informal CAT meeting is to meet with other EU committees to discuss common issues that fall under more than one EU legislative framework.
This is the first informal meeting of this committee.
